Understanding the Difference Between Public and Private Publications

Public Publications are the publications which your constituents can subscribe to from your forms.

Each Public publication must be added to the forms you wish it to appear on. This includes the Subscription preferences form which is automatically generated in all Databanks.

Private Publications are publications which your constituents can only be subscribed to by someone logged into your Databank. Generally they are used for internal communications or communications with major donors and engaged constituents.

Private publications do not appear on any of your forms, EXCEPT for the Subscription Preferences form. Any private publications an individual is subscribed to will automatically be visible in the Subscription Preferences form. Additionally, an email address can be add to a private publication in the Publication Set Up page to generate an email alert when someone unsubscribes from the private publication.
