Please note that you must have a PayPal Business account to set up PayPal Checkout.

This tutorial will walk you through obtaining the credentials needed to set up PayPal Checkout in your thedatabank account.
What You'll Need
You will need to provide the following information to thedatabank, please send the information to clientsupport@thedatabank.com, or submit the information in a support ticket in your Databank.
- Merchant ID
- API Username
- API Password
- API Signature
Important: These credentials are sensitive. Do not send them through regular email. Please submit them through Help → Support Request in your thedatabank account so they can be handled securely.
1. Log into your PayPal Business account
Don't have a PayPal Business account? Follow this link to sign up on the PayPal site.
When you log in to PayPal you're presented with a Dashboard page:
2. Access your PayPal API credentials

Hover over your name and then click Settings from the menu.
- On the Account access page, click Update for the API access item.
- Click Continue with-out-of-use NVP/SOAP credentials as seen in the red highlighted section from the image shown below.
Note: If you have already generated an API signature, clicking Manage API Credentials displays the signature information. If you must generate an API signature, click Remove to delete the existing API signature.
- On the next page select the Partner option and enter 'thedatabank' in the text box and click on the Continue with deprecated credentials option.
- You will receive a similar screen as shown below, please open a support request via Help > Support Request function in your Databank menu and share those details with us in addition to the Merchant ID, which may be found under the Business Information section.
3. Find your Merchant ID
Your Merchant ID is separate from your API Username, Password, and Signature.
To locate your Merchant ID:
- From your PayPal Business account, open your Account Settings

Under the Business Profile section select Business Information, copy and paste the Merchant ID and include that in your support ticket.
4. Submit your information to thedatabank
Once you have all four pieces of information, submit them through a Support Request in your thedatabank account.
Go to:
Help → Support Request
Include:
- Merchant ID
- API Username
- API Password
- API Signature
🔒 Security reminder: Please do not send your PayPal API credentials by regular email or include them in a public forum or community post. Use a Support Request in thedatabank to securely provide your credentials.
