Fixing ZIP Codes with Leading Zeros in Exported Data

It's almost certain you've got people in your databank whose ZIP codes start with zero, especially if your organization is on or interacts with people on the East coast. You may have noticed that first zero disappears when the file is exported and opened in Excel.

To fix this, open the file in Excel as you normally would.

Then right click on the ZIP code column and choose Format Cells.

Choose Special.

And choose ZIP code.

Voila! The zeros are restored!
