Congratulations on signing up for a Databank Nonprofit Chatbot account. Your chatbot is trained on your organization's website and designed to quickly answer questions from site visitors. Your chatbot is easily customized to match your website's look and feel. This document will guide you through that process.
Step One: Create your user account - Once you sign up for a Databank Chatbot account, you will receive an email asking you to create your administrative account. Please follow the instructions in that email to create your account.
Step Two: Set up your new chatbot - Once you log into your account, you will immediately be in your chatbot setup. This is where you will customize the look and feel of your chatbot.
“Basics”, “Look & Feel”, and “Quick Prompts” - This is your main navigation to the three areas of configuring your chatbot. On all setup pages, you will see your chatbot launch icon used to preview your chatbot, and code to install the chatbot on your website.
On the left side of each page are tools for editing your chatbot. On the right side are live previews of what your chatbot will look like.
Basics Setup
In this section, you will enter the message you want the chatbot to display in its interface. As you modify this and save it, changes will appear in the “Live preview” window on the right side of the screen. Changes will also be reflected in the chatbot preview on the bottom right of the screen.
The “Teaser (popup text) refers to a popup that appears automatically when someone visits your website. To see the popup in the chatbot preview, refresh your browser window.
Look & Feel
In this section, you will customize the colors, icons, and layout of your chatbot. Your chatbot comes preloaded with several general themes, which you can then further customize.
Changes you make in this section will automatically show in the Live preview window.
Once you have made the changes you want, make sure to click on the Save button to save those changes.
Quick Prompts
Quick Prompts give your site visitors some suggested prompts to help them easily use the chatbot. You can start with a set of suggested default prompts (Use defaults) or create your own quick prompts. Again, changes will be immediately reflected in the Live preview. Click the Save button to publish the changes to the live chatbot.
Step Three: Install on website (Copy & Paste)
Once you are ready to place your chatbot on your website, you will use the code in the section shown below to add the chatbot to your site.
Once your chatbot goes live on your website, it will be ready to answer visitor questions 24/7. Transcripts of chatbot conversations will be emailed to the administrative email for your account. These conversations will provide valuable information on what questions visitors have about your organization. This information can help you make changes to your website to better serve your site visitors.
