Ability to "unassign" field values

As part of trying to implement plans to keep our system "clean" and up-to-date, we need the ability to not only assign certain pieces of information en masse, but also to remove that same assignment.
Currently, for example, there is only a way to add Subscriptions to a group of member records; it would seem that it would not be a significant change (to both the UI and to the site functionality pushing down to SQL) to be able to apply the removal of that same Subscription for a group of member records.
This functionality was recently added for Participation Codes, giving us the ability to both add and remove en masse.
Anyone else see this need?

The Publications tool has been updated to allow for batch unsubscribing.
