You have run an NCOA on our database and I am preparing a mailing and need help with the Mail Score. I read the explanations, but I am unclear which ones I should not mail to. From what I read, I would drop those contact with a score of 5, 6, or 7 because it is unlikely they will be delivered. Is this a correct assumption?
Thank you
Hi Elizabeth - There is no clear rule on this. Normally people use the mail score as a guide if they need to reduce the number of pieces they mail by first eliminating the "7" then "6" and so on. The records scored with a "7" are likely address errors and are not likely deliverable. The "5" and "6"are not so clear as they might be deliverable just could not be resolved in the USPS address database. There are any number of reasons for this like the address is using a local street name that the local mail deliverer knows but is not in the formal system. Hope this helps a bit.
